Gotta Serve Somebody

Thirty five years before Bob Dylan won the Nobel Prize he wrote music out of the experience of his conversion to Christianity.  Here performed on television, “Gotta Serve Somebody” was his most popular song from that period;
“You may be an ambassador to England or France
You may like to gamble, you might like to dance
You may be the heavyweight champion of the world
You may be a socialite with a long string of pearls
But you’re gonna have to serve somebody, yes
Indeed you’re gonna have to serve somebody
Well, it may be the devil or it may be the Lord
But you’re gonna have to serve somebody”

The clarity of this thinking is refreshing, and is in line with our simple Kingdom/Anti-Kingdom distinction here at WakeUPchurch.org.  It is also in line with other either/or statements in the bible such as the following to list a few;

He who is not with Me is against Me; and he who does not gather with Me scatters”  -Matthew 12:30

“The dominion of satan” or the Kingdom of God – Colossians 1:13

“The kingdom of this world” or “the Kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ” – Revelation 11:15

The “synagogue of satan” (Revelation 3:9) or the Church of Christ

Christ or Anti-Christ (2 John 1:7)

“Child of hell” (Matthew 23:15) or “children of God” (Galatians 3:26)

“Friend of God” (James 2:23) or “enemy of God” (Romans 5:10, Colossians 1:21)

Our goal here at WakeUPchurch.org is to help us discern when we are acting in line with the Kingdom of God and when we are acting in line with the Anti-Kingdom or kingdom of satan.  As Forest Gump might say, “Kingdom is as Kingdom does”.
